Hi Andy!
I still love reading your blog. Funny how it has all come full circle. I know every boat had their difficulties, but I am still processing the melt down that occurred on my boat and I am still trying to return to a normal life on land. Few people actually understand what we did. I think the only real cure for all of this (for me) is to find a new and different race.
The biggest lessons I learned had nothing to do with sailing and everything to do with the value of time. I am so fortunate that I met you through this crazy race.
Please keep in touch and let me know what is next in store for you. Shana xx
Great to hear from you again Shana. Great memories. Some fantastic some less so, but all amazing. I would not have missed it for the world. Have emailed you with latest news. Hope to revamp web site in New Year with details of next project. :) xx

It's wonderful to know there are people willing to endure difficult tasks and accomplish their objectives . keep going forth and I wish you all the best. I will keep following the race until the END. Good luck. I`ll see Team Finland in First Place...!!!! ;)

Way to go chaps! Not only darned good winning sailors but lifesavers too!!! Well done. Oh boy have you missed a 'carp' winter here so far. Snow and thick ice everywhere since Tue 5th and still a lot hanging around in other parts of the country. I bought some flash snow boots which were perfick - till I stood on snow and went thro to the ice beneath. Then for 'non slip soles' read, 'soles which are guaranteed to help you base over apex', needing to grab the nearest available thing - whoever he might be! Anything relating to dignity / fashion can be forgotten! Not unlike my normal self really! Keep sailing strong matey. God Bless. Liz F

Hi Andy! Great to get your Christmas message and have passed it round to everyone in Planning. We all send our love for a safe next leg of the journey. Make it a first to China too! It's been bitterly cold here and we had snow in E/L last week. The worst part was that it rained then froze solid. Walking to work along Leigh Rd was absolutely terrifying. Poor Elaine fell and looks like she's bust her left arm. Thankfully, we seem to have got rid of the ice for a while, although the Mid's and North and Scot'd have pretty revolting amounts of snow. Nice on cards but, keep it there I say! Stay well and travel safely mate. Happy NY to all of you on Finland. Liz F. x
martin denny 12/24/2009 12:16 h
To Andy Milner Wishing you a very happy Christmas Staying in Peebles where there is 10 inches of snow Martin and Nicola

Liz Farnell 12/16/2009 16:08 h
Way to go Andy and Team Finland! What a superb effort and glad you're safely in Oz. The Planning Support Team just had their Christmas lunch at the Gateway and very good it was too. Some snow flurries today and heavier falls forecast over next couple. Not for me thank you very much!!! Have a good and safe Christmas whichever bit of the ocean you'll be on that day. Safe travelling. God Bless. Liz F.

UNCLE ANDY, We knew you were a touch insane and extremely brave but didn't actually expect you to be good as well!!! Told Baby Cerys all about your world beating efforts - she took another slurp from her bottle and raised her eyebrows, mind you she is pretty tough to impress unless you have a noisy toy or food! Well done and all the best for the next leg. Glenn, Ang and Baby Cerys

Hi Andy - it has been great reading through your site. My daughter, Emma Bosworth, is sailing 2,3,4 legs on California and any info I can get about the whole experience makes it much more real for me. Good luck in your race and I wish every single race participant a safe but hugely enjoyable and fun time.
She is in very good hands; I have several friends sailing on California and will say Hi next time I am passing. Glad you liked the site.
Mark 08/24/2009 15:53 h
Hi AndyBest of luck on CV5. Spirit of Australia will look forward to greeting you when you arrive in each port.
Cheers Mark. Look forward to sharing a beer and talking again about finishing positions. lol. I think Spirit of Australia and Team Finland could be set for a good bit of competition!

I am 6 days away from leaving the Colonies for boat prep and delivery - and the beginning of our grand adventure. I can't believe it is almost here. I look forward to seeing you again and to sharing pints and stories. How was pig racing? I have already concocted the idea of a Clipper Race Yacht Club bareboat trip for a reunion . . . Shana
I'll probably see you before you read this but have a good trip across the pond! Pig Racing was amazing fun and good for the charity too.

Freya Cross PR Chair for Rotary District 1270 05/16/2009 21:06 h
Hi Andy I was doing a search about clipper for Rotary and noted that you had spoken to Southampton Rotary (co-incidently where I was early April as my brother lives there) Thought you might like to know that the 8 Hull and East Riding Clubs are supporting the Young Hull Ambassadors who are taking part in this race. We are already alerting all Rotarians on the route so you may be seeing more of Rotary.
Enjoy the experience - Good Luck
Thanks Freya and good luck with the Young Hull Ambassadors. I was so inspired by that project, I covered it in one of the articles in my professional journal which can be downloaded at http://www.meridian360.me.uk/133423.html Then look for the Feb 2009 download.
Jacke 03/17/2009 12:44 h
Well done Andy on completing your navigation course. Have a great few days away in Cornwall.
Ruth Cole 02/21/2009 22:45 h
Hello Andy, great website you've got going here (I also got the link from Clipper), and hats off to you for all your good work with the Rainbow Center. I'm signed up for legs 6 & 7 and can't wait to get out there! Hope to meet you in person at some point - maybe May 30th? Nice to hear from some other Clipper-racers too - I'm living in the States so I'm off to visit Charles' California Clipper facebook page too.
Thanks Ruth. Always good to hear from other crew members, and like you I'm looknig forward to 30 May. Then its the final countdown!
Steph Robertson 02/21/2009 17:35 h
Got the ling to your pages from Clipper - just about to set up my own page for my legs 6&7 . have to say yours is fantastic. any hints and tips welcome. See you on may 30 th if not before S
Look forward to meeting you. i've sent an email with details of the web site builder which can be viewed at www.easily.co.uk.
Jeff Garraway 02/16/2009
14:25 h Hi, Andy. Came across your site by chance and had to say “what an inspiration”, you have obviously been working long and hard at it, so I wish you luck with your fund raising. A great cause. For me, well it is leg 4 only (wish I was there for the full 360, but we can’t all go) Then back to the grind stone. But I will be with you all the way on-line. Pt A was great fun with Sean and Owen, see previous comments. However, part B was outrageous! Starting the week after you 2 Feb 09 and man was it cold. All the same, the people were great and a sound reminder of what I (all of us) will need for leg 4. I hope to meet up. Jeff
Thanks Jeff. I thought I had it bad on Part B in January but then it just got colder for you guys! All good practice for leg 4 though. Glad you enjoyd it!
Elaine Kirton 01/05/2009 21:19 h
Hi Andy! Excellent website, it's coming along nicely, eh! Thanks for the mention and you've got a link in mine:) So we are in 2009 at long last, Yessss! Bring it on. Looking forward to the London Boat Show and the first crew briefing... Elaine.
Hi Elaine. Getting real now! Hope the knee is better - look forward to seeing you at the boat show.
Shana A Bagley 12/23/2008 18:44 h
Happy Holidays, Andy!!!!
You too Shana. May 2009 be all you hope it to be!
Charles Willson 12/18/2008 13:54 h
Andy, Great site, excellent information. I linked to it from our "California Clipper Crew" group page on Facebook. By any chance do you have the time to post a list on our group page of "Things I recommend." Most of the US based crew will be doing their training in the New Year and any sage advice on what gear or set-up works best would be invaluable. We are coming a long way, but there again we are all looking forward to going a long way! Cheers, Charles
No sooner said than done! Look forward to seeing you next year.
Sean Hefferon 11/29/2008 05:13 h
Hi Andy
Great website - I was referred to it by Owen Morris who sailed with you to St Katherines Docks recently. Owen and I did the Part A together (I continued to Part B as the UK is a longway from my hometown of Fremantle). All the best - especially with the fundraising - may see you during the race!
Hello Sean. That was a good trip and a good learning curve when we hit the Thames Estuary in thick fog! Look forward to meeting up next year.
Kate Prickett 11/14/2008 08:21 h
This is a great website Andy, and what a good cause. I too am taking part in the 09-10 adventure, I am doing legs 4 to 7. Look forward to meeting you at some point!
Leg 4 will be amazing - 40 degrees leaving Singapore and then sub zero temperatures as we approach China just a couple of weeks later!
Shana Bagley 10/06/2008 23:11 h
Hi Andy! What a great website - it is very informative. I am signed up for Leg One and hope to meet you during my grand Clipper adventure. I wish I could do the whole race this time.
Great to hear from you. If we do not meet up on training, I'll catch up with you in Hull. Cheers!
mike milner 08/26/2008 00:53 h
Truly amazing website bro. So nice to know I'm not the only crazy one in the milner family. Crazy, but I'd be with you in a heartbeat. And WOULD be, but I'll resign myself to following from the comforts of my computer here in sunny Florida. Keep it up. I'm proud of you kid
Cheers bro. Looking forward to sharing some 'wings' on one of the US stopovers!
Anne Dickens 07/22/2008 19:22 h
Your website is brilliant - really interesting and having done the first three legs of 07-08 I know you will have a great time on the 09-10 race. Will be following you all the way - great to meet you on the delivery trip, had a wonderful time and the very best of luck with your race. Lots of Love Anne XX
Great to hear from you Anne. Really enjoyed the trip back and can't wait to get on Part B training. It will be great to see you in Hull next year where there is sure to be a drink with your name on!
Sean Langley 05/05/200818:35 h
Hi Andy,
Just catching up with some reading and read your 1st article in Insight. What a challenge ! Just think, though; surely nothing can be as uncomfortable as what you went through yesterday afternoon between 2pm and 4pm, can it ?
Saints are always a challenge. At least this is something I can control a bit more!!
Angie & Howard 04/13/2008 15:40 h
What to say...dedicated, driven, tenatious or just plain simply barking? I always knew revs and bens was enough to turn anyones head and as a defunct accountant, I am very jealous of your sense of adventure. Anyhow, look on the bright side, at least you needn't worry about your hair getting all knotty and blowing in your eyes! C ya soon

Hi Andy - I hadn't realised that my constant chatter about sailing whilst working with you at SSDC had had such an effect. Superb website site - definitely the Andy attitude that I remember for getting things done! As Barry and I have now moved up from dinghy's to a 31ft Moody the tip I would give you with helming is feel the wind on your face/neck and look ahead at the bow, if it moves to port (left) turn the wheel slightly to starboard (right) or vice versa much easier than looking at the compass all the time and you will also see where you are going (always useful). Remember when sea sickness strikes and you just want to die when it's all over you will only remember the goods times. I know as I can be very sick. All the best sailors suffer including Nelson!! Good Luck and have fun. Catherine
Steve 04/02/2008 21:40 h
Part A sounds brilliant and I'm certain it will have fired you up even more, but I would have thought you would be used to swaying uncontrollably on dry land by now!
Liz 04/02/200811:54 h
Crikey Andy! You're a braver man than all of us put together! I'll keep an eye on your exploits via the webpage and whatever you post via the E/L website. Really really proud of you and will think of you as you do what most of US would only dream of. Travel safely mate.
Best. Liz F

The Rainbow Centre is thrilled to be a part of this amazing adventure which is being undertaken by Andy. Life for children at The Rainbow Centre is an everyday challenge. The Centre helps these children to learn new skills, to gain confidence and to improve their quality of life. Andy, during July 2009 - July 2010 will face his own challenges and will also learn new skills which will stay with him for the rest of his life.
We hope that you will support Andy in his Ultimate Challenge and encourage others to do the same so that we can continue to support the children and families currently attending The Rainbow Centre now and in the future.

The scary thing is I know you mean it :)

Shana 11/01/2010 05:11 h
:) xx

God Bless. Liz F

Liz Farnell 12/30/2009 13:51 h

I'll probably see you before you read this but have a good trip across the pond! Pig Racing was amazing fun and good for the charity too.

12:25 h Please could you add my name to the Edinburgh Inspiring Capital boat? I may be a late addition (signed up in May 2009) but I am definitely on Leg 2! Many thanks Margot
Done! And welcome to the race :) I think there might have been one or two other changes so I will work on those after the weekend.
Richard Gigg 06/11/2009 08:41 h

C ya soon
Catherine Hood 04/07/2008 20:06 h
Best. Liz F
John B 03/24/2008 13:36 h

Christine McCann 02/21/2008 16:14 h
Hi Uncle Andy, fantastic website but surely there must be something to do with the Saints on here!
Jude 02/19/2008 19:05 h
OK, I've caught up now and read all the lastest info. It's looking really exciting. I think you're only slightly demented.
It's taken you only 35 years to realise that??
Pat & Mike 02/18/2008 09:27 h

The Rainbow Centre is thrilled to be a part of this amazing adventure which is being undertaken by Andy. Life for children at The Rainbow Centre is an everyday challenge. The Centre helps these children to learn new skills, to gain confidence and to improve their quality of life. Andy, during July 2009 - July 2010 will face his own challenges and will also learn new skills which will stay with him for the rest of his life.
We hope that you will support Andy in his Ultimate Challenge and encourage others to do the same so that we can continue to support the children and families currently attending The Rainbow Centre now and in the future.

Fantastic looking site. Someone has been busy. Well done on getting a place on the race. No better time in life to do this. You deserve it, enjoy every second. We will be with you all the way from our dry warm homes. So long away from the mighty Saints eh!
Peter 10/24/2007 16:45 h
Great looking site Andy. You should slash the top of your dough to avoid the crust-catastrophe scenario.
Steve R 10/23/2007 22:46 h
I know you will rise to this challenge as you always do, but what about me? You'll be gone for nine months and I don't know anyone else I can beat at golf!
Jackie K 10/23/2007 13:08 h
Well Andy - I personally think that you must be bonkers to do this trip - but seriously you know Peter & I are supporting you 100% and wish you a wonderful, safe and no doubt "smelly" trip.
There speaks someone with inside knowledge!
Suzy Davis 10/22/2007 18:25 h

Kate Morris 10/20/2007 01:55 h
Good for you little brother. I will be following your every move and will do what all big sisters do best - laugh hysterically, try to get to see you at at least one port of call, and see if I can take embarrasing pictures of you to post on your website. :) Seriously, I'm jealous and very proud of you.
The scary thing is I know you mean it :)
Ruth 10/18/2007 21:11 h
Fab website, how did you manage to built it - it looks really good!!
It's using the same tool as The Bridal Room so thank you for the tip!
